We are currently seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to complement our Mission Critical team in the Atlanta Office. This candidate will play a lead role in assisting our clients in all phases of the commissioning and design process, from functional planning and conceptual layout through to detailed design and construction support.

The Mechanical Engineer is an integral member of the project team, responsible for delivering mission critical projects of varying sizes and complexities. You will be responsible for directing, organizing and controlling all mechanical engineering activities on selected projects and will report to the Team Lead Mechanical Engineer.

You will work on some of the most sophisticated and coveted projects in the industry, providing integrated solutions for technically complex issues. We are seeking someone who is customer and solution minded with a strong business acumen.

Design

  • Performs mechanical engineering work (design, cad and Revit) related to Mission Critical Facilities, specifically in the areas of Mechanical Systems, i.e. HVAC, plumbing and drainage, fire protection & controls

  • Conducts engineering/architecture/planning options comparisons by undertaking multi-factor assessments to select preferred cost-effective alternatives

  • Prepares contract drawings and specifications in conjunction with project team for delivery to client

  • Documents study progress/results through the preparation of memos, minutes and reports as a record of events

  • Provides direction to project team members and support staff through verbal and written instructions and assign work to appropriate individuals

  • Liaises with clients to exchange information re: project progress

  • Provides technical judgment

  • Conducts business development activities to secure new projects by client liaison and proposal preparation

  • Prepares site visit reports by interpreting findings to give clear recommendations and direction to clients

  • Reviews shop drawings and design details by analyzing for continuity and viability

  • Certifies professional work

Commissioning

  • Conduct project delivery activities related to Mission Critical Facilities Commissioning, including; whole building commissioning, best practices commissioning, retro-commissioning, and re-commissioning projects

  • Available for extensive site visits associated with the delivery of commissioning services throughout North America. Site visits could be for extended periods of time

  • Attend meetings and coordinate work as related to commissioning services with other disciplines and team members, the design team, construction team and the owners team

  • Consulting Engineering experience for Mission Critical Facilities design and commissioning

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, EIT a must, P.Eng. preferred

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering

  • Strong knowledge of the application of standard mechanical engineering methods and techniques specifically for mission critical facilities

  • Plumbing knowledge & Fire Suppression experience an asset

  • Experience providing quality control on design and specifications for Mission Critical Facilities

  • Experience in design/construction review and contract administration

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is a must

  • Interest in buildings, commissioning, energy management, sustainability and construction

  • Desire to divide time between on-site activities and office administrative duties

  • Ability to work independently with little or no daily supervision

  • Ability to work on low-rise rooftops, outdoors throughout the year

  • Strong knowledge of BAS controls

  • Strong demonstrated written and oral communication skills in English

  • Intimate knowledge of all building codes related to electrical engineering

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to handle multiple projects with the ability to effectively prioritize

  • Strong relationship and interpersonal skills required

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with a strong customer service commitment
