We are seeking a Senior Storage/Backup Engineer , based at Western Union’s global headquarters in Englewood, Colorado.

In this role, they will be responsible for implementing and maintaining Storage and Backup solutions. The individual will be a key member of our team and will be relied on for technical consultation. The individual will be challenged to succeed in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Individual will need to evaluate storage and backup equipment and service offerings from vendors and make recommendations to optimize infrastructure. This person will establish standards for new storage and backup technologies that can be leveraged across all projects and facilities with-in Western Union Business Solutions

  • Analyze, design, andimplement mission critical storage and backup infrastructure and ensurehigh levels of data quality and availability.

  • Evaluate input and outputfor systems, as well as overall architecture, to recommend improvements.

  • Design disaster recoveryplans and enforce backup and archival procedures.

  • Design and implementsolutions for data storage and maintenance.

  • Upgrade software, applypatches, and ensure physical security of data.

  • Work with business and applicationdevelopment teams to extract requirements and propose appropriate storageand backup solutions and standards.

  • Establish and maintaindocumentation of the current technology state and effectively proposeenhancements.

  • Perform capacity planningand performance tuning as it relates to the storage infrastructure.

  • Flexible personality thatcan foster positive and collaborative relations w/customers and peers in afast-paced, multi-priority environment.

  • Manage offshore technicalstorage and backups teams to ensure smooth operations.

  • Ensures optimalperformance of all system components by proactively conducting ongoingperformance monitoring in accordance with SLAs and by tuning as necessary.

  • Enhances thefunctionality of systems by developing and modifying scripts to automatesystem processes

  • Create Knowledge Basearticles of operational tasks to streamline support and empower firstlevel support to resolve issues on a first call basis

What you will need tosucceed:

  • Bachelor’s degree inComputer Science, Engineering, or related discipline is required

  • 2-5 years’ experiencewith backup technologies and infrastructures with at least 1 year ofCommvault experience

  • Experience with backingup Oracle, SQL Server and other Database environments, AIX, Windows andUnix (Solaris/Red Hat Linux)

  • Experience with SAN/NASadministration and troubleshooting skills with storage systems such as EMCVNX, XtremIO & Unity

  • Ability to managing andtroubleshooting NFS exports and CIFS Shares as well as Cisco MDS FibreChannel switches including SAN zoning and tools

  • Excellent teamwork,verbal and written communication is required Will provide systems andinfrastructure environment support, on and off hours

  • Occasional travel toremote data center will be required Must have experience usingtechnologies such as LDAP, TCP/IP, NFS, SAN and Direct Attached Storage,High-Performance

  • Networking Experiencewith replication technologies either in storage, Recover Point, or NativeDatabase protocol Good knowledge and understanding of SOX or analternative Security Compliance including data privacy practices and law

  • Good technical knowledgeof VMware and other Virtualization Technologies

  • Basic knowledge in coreenterprise infrastructure
