Description

Interstates is growing, and we are currently seeking an Entry-Level Regional Safety Coordinator to join our Interstates Construction Team in our Fort Collins Regional Office. The Regional Safety Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Safety Managers. This individual will also help our customers achieve a successful and safe work zone, that meets all owner/regulatory requirements, as defined in the primary job duties section, below. Interstates seeks ambitious, innovative individuals with the ability to grow and maintain value-added relationships with our team and external customers.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Safety Director in promoting behavioral-based safety on remote construction sites

  • Ensure all safety equipment and supplies are on-site

  • Assist in providing First Aid training and First Aid on site

  • Complete job-site safety audits, correcting all potential problems

  • Monitor and promote weekly on-site safety inspections, including logging, reporting, and documentation

  • Assist the Safety Manager with the investigation of accidents, injuries, and "near-misses"

  • Assist with coordinating training programs or media, which will increase proficiency in safe practice and promote safety implementation and awareness

  • Conduct Root-Cause Analyses

  • Attend foreman and team safety meetings

  • Complete coaching and 2 minute drill interactions with team members

  • Ensure there is a site-specific SDS binder and that it is up-to-date

  • Manage LOTO kits and the calibration of air/gas monitors

  • Assisting with project start-ups and plant shut-downs

  • Assist crews in observing, communicating, and growing the Interstates Safety Culture

  • Develop relationships with customers, safety managers, and other Interstates personnel

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Occupational Health of Construction Safety

  • Or 1-2 years of related experience and/or training

  • Or equivalent combination of both education and experience

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Able to track information and conduct audits

  • Ability to write reports and procedure manuals

  • Can effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of manager, clients, customers, and the general public

  • Ability to work well with others and achieve results through others, without having a direct line of authority over them

  • Must possess sound judgement skills, and the ability to prioritize work and deal with stress

Travel: This position will involve spending 80-90% of the time on construction sites; travel will be required according to job site needs within the Fort Collins area.
