What You Will Do
The Nuclear Material Control and Accountability group is seeking an energetic, experienced, interactive, customer-focused professional to provide operational and programmatic support. The selected candidate will provide nuclear material accountability support for shipment/receipts, NM updates and monthly reconciliation using the Los Alamos Material Control and Accountability System (LAMCAS). Reporting to the Accounting Team Leader, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
Prepare, examine or analyze accounting records, reports and accounting system to assess accuracy and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
Monitor and analyze accounting transaction activities to ensure good business practices and adherence to regulations.
Prepare shipment/receipt documents and perform associated LAMCAS transactions.
Perform end-of-month and year end closing accounting activities.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Comprehensive knowledge of accounting concepts and (GAAP) generally accepted accounting principles.
Extensive experience in nuclear material control and accountability accounting activities.
Advanced-level problem solving skills and the ability to execute accounting decisions consistent with nuclear material control and accountability regulatory drivers and GAAP.
Well-developed organizational skills to independently establish priorities and execute assignments.
Extensive experience with Microsoft Access and Excel for report generation and presentation.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal as demonstrated by interfacing with customers and/or presenting technical information/data to management.
Demonstrated ability to perform LANMAS transactions and generate LAMCAS reports.
Knowledge of DOE order requirements, NMCA implementation plans and conduct of operations in nuclear facilities.
Demonstrated ability to perform NMMSS reporting.
Experience in conducting research, investigating and recommending solutions on problems affecting nuclear material accounting activities.
Education:Master’s degree in accounting, computer science or management information systems, science or engineering degree or 8 years of related field experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.

Where You Will Work
The Nuclear Material Control and Accountability group (SAFE-NMCA) is responsible for overseeing all nuclear material operations at Los Alamos National Laboratory including maintaining the Laboratory’s official record of its nuclear material holdings. The group is also responsible for maintenance and enhancement of the nuclear material accounting system and other institutional-level software. These responsibilities result in a high, sustained operational tempo as well as significant scrutiny from both internal and external customers.
