Department of Mechanical EngineeringCollege of Engineering, Computer Science and TechnologyPosition: Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Mechanical EngineeringStarting Date: August, 2018Minimum Qualifications:1) An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other closely-related engineering discipline from an accredited institution (or equivalent) is required; however, applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered. For appointment, the doctorate must be completed by the date of appointment (08/16/2018);2) Demonstrated expertise and currency in an area of aerospace engineering; including, but not limited to: aerodynamics, aircraft / spacecraft design, flight dynamics and control, aircraft / spacecraft structures, aeroelasticity, or propulsion.3) Evidence of publications in scholarly journals, and;4) Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a multicultural/multiethnic urban campus environment with a substantial population of first-generation students.Preferred Qualifications:1) University-level teaching experience;2) Post-Doctoral experience;3) Industry experience;4) Grant writing experienceDuties: The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community.
