Caterpillar Engineering Specialist in Mossville, Illinois

Caterpillar’s Innovation and Technology Development Division is currently seeking a Platform Lead Engineer for its Mossville, IL location. In this role you will have an opportunity to contribute to the concept, development and design of Autonomy & Safety hardware components, specifically radar based technologies for machine control. You will solve complex and technical problems and develop critical components for next generation products. You will release these components to production in a manner to ensure they provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. You will manage the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor and coach enterprise team members, and deepen your professional network.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

** Lead research and development in the design of new radar products used in perception system designs.

** Define project plans and product requirements (HRS).

** Collaborate with the supplier to design and validate products.

** Collaborate with the system group to integrate the component on to the end product.

** Work closely with test resources to validate that the product meets environmental and regulatory requirements.

** Keep track of development issues via NPI L1/L2 process & resolution (time, cost & quality).

** Collaborate with the Global Supply Network Division on commercial and quality issues associated with supplier selection and development.

** Communicate results to global customers, suppliers, team members.

** Acknowledge and raise customers’ and management’s awareness of trade-offs between time, resources and quality.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering Field of study, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering.

** Electrical / Electronic component development experience

  • 7 to 10 years of relevant work experience

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Master's degree in an accredited Engineering Field of study, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering.

  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) processes.

  • Experience with Electronics components environmental and EMC testing.

  • Experience with development tools such as oscilloscopes and network analyzers.

  • Experience with RF type approvals, certifications and regulations.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong leadership ability and good communications skills.
