Job DescriptionKelly Services is partnering with Bemis North America to recruit for a Machine Mechanic in New London! This is a unique TEMP-TO-HIRE position that combines troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance work on manual and CNC machine shop equipment with the advanced level machine assembly and sub-assembly work in the packaging equipment department. If you are looking for a challenging, hybrid position that deals with both repair/maintenance AND high-level assembly, this position is for YOU!Job Details: - Safety is the top priority. Is responsible for the safety of self and all others. Maintains a clean and organized work environment.- Is responsible for troubleshooting and repair as well as the execution of monthly preventative maintenance procedures on all machine shop equipment.- Reads and interprets complex blueprints and schematics related to pneumatics, vacuum systems, lubrication systems, water piping and mechanical assemblies.- Performs assembly and setup for belts, chains, and assembled parts such as die presses, forming inserts, evacuation chambers, and forming molds. Uses simple machine measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, and verniers as needed.- Performs some basic sheet metal duties pertaining to the installation, fit and function of machine elements such as panels, doors, closures, and guarding. - Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agency standards, as well as safety policies established by Bemis and RE&D.- Operation of forklifts, basic rigging and use of overhead cranes as well as other typical shop material handling equipment. RequirementsJob Requirements: - Ability to safely operate a forklift- Basic safe rigging techniques using straps, slings, and other related hardware- Basic computer skills- Advanced mechanical aptitude and blueprint reading skills- Familiar with the use of typical machine shop equipment, measuring tools and assembly techniques- Excellent oral and written communication skills - High degree of initiative and self-direction- Must be able to work effectively both independently and with others in team situations- Exemplifies Bemis core values (Ethics, Accountability, Innovation, Respect)Additional Requirements: - Associates degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.- A good working knowledge of machine shop methods and procedures.- Familiarity with typical machine shop equipment- Basic knowledge of personal computers - Must possess basic hand tool and measuring equipment per company listing- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and do heavy lifting up to 70 lbs. on occasion. Must be able to continually bend and reach as work requires.
