Surgical Technologists are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. Surgical technologists work under the supervision of the surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. Ensures that the operating room environment is safe, the equipment functions properly, and the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
Expertise in theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique
Knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies
Knowledge of OR equipment / instrumentation
Ability to operate business machines and able to handle heavy equipment (push / pull)
Ability to speak / write English
Education : High school graduate or equivalent; Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology Program
Training: Obtains at least 6 CEUs per year
License / Certification : Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification
- Experience : One (1) year operating room experience
