Job Title Jr. Quality Engineer

Job Responsibilities ViaSat produces innovative satellite and other wireless communication products that enable fast, secure, and efficient communications to any location. Each group at ViaSat contributes to the launch of every satellite, how exciting is that?As a key member of our Quality team, you will assume a Quality Engineer role for products assembled at the Tempe, AZ facility. You will review in-house Engineering changes for QA requirements as well as review material quality issues and represent QA on the Material Review Board. You will perform QA surveys and audits of present and proposed suppliers and subcontractors to ensure adequate QA systems are implemented and maintained. You will collect, analyze, and report Quality metrics, (e.g., Pareto Analysis, Histograms, Cause & Effect Diagrams, SPC, Cpk, etc.) to enact continuous Quality improvement in ViaSat Tempe products and services. You will create Nonconforming Material Reports (NMRs) and participate Material Review Board (MRB) process. You will support Failure Analysis (FA) activities internally and with outside labs.

Requirements 1+ years of experience in a similar Quality Engineer role with experience with electronic assemblies (circuit boards with installed SMT and through-hole components).Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel to analyze dataBachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing EngineeringU.S. Government Position. U.S. Citizenship Required.Up to 25% domestic and international travel.

Preferences Experience working on Space flight programs.Coursework or experience with Statistics and Quality AssuranceWorking experience using MiniTabTraining in Six Sigma and Lean ManufacturingExperience with IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001ASQ CertificationViaSat is located in the Tempe Arizona in the ASU Technology Center.
