Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results. Operates x-ray equipment to perform clinical diagnostic exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices. Prepares patient for radiographic procedures by accurately assessing patient's needs and providing patient education. Maintains equipment and supplies and organizes the work area. Obtains brief history and records all pertinent information on finished exams (patient data, dates, views, etc.) Verifies the patient by checking identification arm band and prepares patient for the procedure. Explains the procedure to the patient. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and utilization of proper positioning, protocol and techniques to obtain a quality diagnostic image. Identifies normal anatomy and/or unusual findings. Prepares films for interpretation by the reading radiologist in an accurate and timely manner. Practices safety measures in radiography by adhering to all governing regulations. Follows universal precautions, infection control guidelines and sterile technique. Performs other functions as required or assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of a formal radiologic technology program.Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or registry eligible (must be obtained within one year of hire or from start of working in second modality).
Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Two years of direct patient care experience in diagnostic imaging preferred.. Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire or must be obtained during the first week of orientation.
