NAES Corporation IC&E Technician - Telogia in Telogia, Florida
PurEnergy LLC, a subsidiary of NAES Corporation has an immediate opening for an IC&E; Technician at the Telogia Power facility in Telogia, FL. The facility operates a 14.1 MW carbonaceous fueled power plant. Electricity is generated from steam produced by a boiler with a capacity of 150,000 pounds of steam per hour. The boiler fuel is primarily a combination of In Wood Chips, mill residues, hog fuel and peanut hulls, for a total heat input of 230 million Btu per hour.
The Instrument, Controls and Electrical Technician (IC&E; Technician) performs design, installation and maintenance functions with primary focus in the instrumentation and electrical area.
The IC&E; Technician reports to the Plant Manager.
The IC&E; Technician designs, installs and maintains Local area Networks (LANs); tests, calibrates, installs and maintains various instruments and recording devices such as temperature, pressure, flow and speed measuring devices. The IC&E; Technician also programs and tunes computerized control systems and assists other power plant personnel in administrative, operational and maintenance functions.
Monitors performance of plant power equipment. Makes adjustments and repairs as necessary, according to vendor specifications, to assure units continue to operate in the most efficient manner.
Performs scheduled, preventative maintenance on mechanical and pneumatic power plant equipment. Maintains awareness of safe working conditions and practices safe work habits in all activities. Cautions others, as necessary, in working in a safe manner.
Participates in major maintenance projects, including equipment overhauls and removal and replacement of major units and parts. Inspects and monitors work of third-party contractors during major equipment repair or installation.
Operates other facilities and/or assists operations crew in times of heavy workload, major operating problems, or emergency conditions.
Monitors inventories of maintenance materials and advises appropriate individual when additional parts and supplies are needed.
Maintains buildings, grounds, and company owned vehicles.
Provides on-the-job training and coaching to less experienced I/E Techs and provides counseling to operating technicians regarding operation of equipment.
Completes records on maintenance performed.
Inspects and performs acceptance test on contractor installed equipment to ensure compliance with Company standards, industry codes, and safety codes.
Evaluates, maintains and repairs electrical generating control systems, electrical distribution systems, switch gear, motors and related equipment, electrical and pneumatic controls, valve operators and controls, ignition systems and plant emergency shut-down devices.
Repairs various operating gauges, instruments, alarms and signal lights.
Calibrates, maintains, and repairs data acquisition units.
Analyzes performance of electrical equipment and instrumentation controls by processing test data, using schematic drawings, and reviewing equipment manuals. Prepares summary reports evaluating equipment performance and recommends corrective action.
Will be called on to perform duties outside of their primary discipline, as the plant demands require.
When required, the IC&E; Technician serves as a Relief Power Plant Operating Technician (Operator) and while fulfilling that capacity operates and controls generation in accordance with safe operating procedures. The Operator controls, operates and maintains equipment including combustion turbine, generator, water treatment and filtration equipment, heat recovery steam generator, selective catalytic reduction unit, continuous emission monitoring systems, electrical breakers, switch gear, water pumps, fuel storage tanks and transfer pumps, fuel filters and other ancillary equipment. The Operator performs water and steam chemical analyses and adjusts chemical dosages as needed. The Operator performs maintenance functions alone or with others as required. The Operator maintains equipment and activity logs, generates work requests, procurement requests, completes work orders, writes and updates procedures, manages parts and supplies inventory, completes daily production reports and shares plant information with other Operators during shift turnovers. Operates a company motor vehicle and a forklift.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with some safety hazards, warm temperatures and toxic chemicals. Must be able to wear a respirator in the event of a plant emergency.
Knowledge of the maintenance of gas and steam turbines, generators, boilers, electric substation, power plant start-up, engine testing equipment, calibration equipment, PM methods and inspection of equipment.
Knowledge of equipment overhauls and removal and replacement of units and parts.
Must possess mechanical skills, basic math skills, good verbal communication skills, use of power and precision tools and analytical skills.
Prior use of analyzers and test gauges.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, instruments and gauges.
Willingness to be on call for emergencies, work overtime and work rotating shifts.
Must be able to work as a team member as well as independently.
