Johnson Controls Mechanical Engineer in Wichita, Kansas

_What you will do:_ The Engineer I will work on the Split System Product Engineering team that is part of the Unitary Products Group (UPG) for Johnson Controls. In this division we manufacture and assemble heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment for the light commercial and residential markets. Johnson Controls has two plants for UPG with approximately 1500 employees each; one in Norman, OK and the other in Wichita, KS. This position will be located in our Wichita, KS plant and will report to the Director of Engineering.

This position will be responsible for supporting the current effort to make UPG the standard of the industry through testing products and components, and utilizing all aspects of design engineering. Key elements of the Engineer I role are to analyze and execute design changes for new product introductions, to stay up to speed on initiatives, and to execute against prioritized list of project activities or requests as more senior engineers need executed.

_The Engineer I will perform the following:_ * Assists and collaborates with senior engineers in the design of or improvement of assigned products and/or parts in a timely and effective manner to ensure quality and cost objectives are met * Collects, analyzes, and interprets data; develops and executes engineering test plans; and designs HVAC systems and components as assigned. * Performs accurate analysis of product performance, making appropriate recommendations as needed to improve product reliability. * Participates as a member of cross functional project teams to ensure projects are completed according to schedule. * Maintains current knowledge of all factors and conditions, which may affect engineering work. * Provides necessary support and interface to thoroughly resolve field and factory issues and concerns. * Advances the state of the art, in the mode of finding process improvements and championing implementation. * Provides technical collaboration with technicians, drafters and/or model makers as needed * Other duties or projects as assigned.
