Do you like leading teams of Systems Engineers (SE) and System Administrators (SA) and interfacing with Government leads to perform and manage the full spectrum of systems engineering tasks to include task management, systems engineering management, requirements analysis, system and interface design, system integration, system testing, system setup, installation, configuration, and deployment along with establishment of all associated documentation? If so, *Leidos is looking for you, our next Senior Systems Engineer to work in our Bethesda, MD office. *
You will be responsible for the integration and deployment of the National Media Exploitation center (NMEC) DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P) for a Department of Homeland Security DOMEX network. D3P is a next generation machine learning pipeline platform that will provide cutting edge data enrichment, triage, and analytics capabilities to Defense and Intelligence Community members. The DHS network will leverage the D3P capabilities to address its data management, enrichment, discovery, and exploitation requirements and meet the operational objectives of DHS agency stakeholders. The successful Senior SE Lead candidate will be responsible for managing a team of SEs and SAs in the overall support of the DHS project. This position entails a combination of technical task/project management responsibilities as well as systems engineering implementation and systems administration. Additionally, the candidate will employ SE standard methods, processes and tools to accomplish analysis, problem diagnosis and solution design, integration and test preparation, risk assessment and mitigation planning, and related activities. The Senior SE Lead will provide weekly/monthly reports, generate briefings and will interface with government personnel to identify required activities, perform collaborative planning, review deliverables, and resolve SE issues.

Work closely with the D3P Program Management Team and D3P chief architect to ensure synergies and alignment between the DHS project and the overall D3P program objectives.
Technical management and execution of systems engineering activities requirements analysis, systems architecture design, implementation planning, third party coordination, integration and test, sustainment, documentation, deployment, and system assessment
Technical project management and execution of overall project activities – interface with Government leads, provide weekly/monthly status reports, create applicable project management briefings and reports as well as coordination among DHS and D3P team members
Determine the selection of platform configurations, hardware, operating systems, software, and assist in the planning, provisioning, installation, documentation, and administration of all server operating systems and storage subsystems to meet customer requirements.
Troubleshoot/resolve problems with existing infrastructure and with deploying new elements of network infrastructure as well as install, configure and manage devices such as firewalls, switches, and routers
Perform hardware setup, installation, configuration, and deployment as well as provide end-user support as needed (bare metal and VM)
Assist SEs and SAs (as needed) to troubleshoot/resolve end-user desktop helpdesk tickets.
Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation and diagrams
Understand and leverage an “Enterprise Product” approach to identify 1) requirements that represent a gap in capabilities, and 2) opportunities for reuse
Evaluate early designs compared to requirements and oversee systems engineering efforts.
Create meaningful entry/exit criteria for all technical reviews, and advocate for appropriate review artifacts, activities, documentation and stakeholder participation
Monitor & report technical variances; facilitate resolution of technical issues that adversely impact successful product delivery
Identify and manage external dependencies
Must have these skills to be successful in this role:
BS in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related technical field or equivalent experience with 10+ years in systems engineering or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree
Must have an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI DoD security clearance
Technical management experience leading other systems engineers and system administrators
Experience managing full life cycle of complex systems
Demonstrable knowledge of systems engineering concepts and applying these concepts to software-intensive systems
Systems administration (Windows, RHEL, etc.) and networking experience (LAN/WAN; DHCP); hardware setup/installation/configuration experience (bare metal and VM)
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, and other systems engineers in the development of complex software systems
Experience designing, integrating, configuring, and testing systems
Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex system problems and develop innovative solutions.
Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution situations involving the full spectrum of system integration activities.
Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing
