Boise State University Payroll and Personnel Processing
Responsible for reviewing and processing all types of actions for the university in order for employees to be paid. Apply policies and procedures with each action processed. Process reports to identify inaccurate data and investigate and make necessary corrections.
Processing Personnel and Payroll Actions
Process all employee actions in PeopleSoft including, separations, funding source changes, salary changes, letters of appointment and other job data and revisions
Process benefit and leave records in PeopleSoft
Analyze the output of the processes/queries and determine what action needs to be taken. These actions can include making adjustments, problem research and resolution, contacting the department, budget office or HR to correct any issues.
Identifying and resolving any issues as they arise in the payroll processing and how they affect an employee’s pay is critical.
Receives and processes performance evaluations ratings
Ability to learn multiple employee data processing actions in order to work in different areas as coverage warrants.
Payroll adjustments including evaluation, calculation of payoff for separating employees. Includes corrections for leave coding, overtime or time entry errors, over or under payments, and other adjustments which may involve pay line entries.
Provide information to employees by interpreting and explaining standard payroll principles and practices and BSU policies governing payroll.
Communicate with and act as a liaison for assigned departments for all processing actions
HR Front Desk back-up, be prepared to fill-in when needed, including covering leave periods, daily breaks and overload situations.
Respond to emails and phone calls in a timely manner, meeting metrics on goals in reducing hold times and transfers
Proactively seek learning opportunities to build your knowledge base and independently applying program knowledge to assist individuals achieving department mission
Use judgement, authority and knowledge to answer more complicated requests when there is no clear procedural response
Maintain employee confidence and protect university operations by keeping information confidential
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Provide back-up to team members with purposeful and ongoing learning and improvement, including expanding your knowledge and understanding of related tasks and processes. Engage in team meetings, discussions and apply continuous process improvement strategies
Minimum Qualifications:Experience: * Providing technical assistance with the processes regarding the application of personnel policies and procedures * Reviewing documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance; compiling data and information for reports * Composing letters and memoranda; performing arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages * Explaining policies and procedures.
Some knowledge of computerized record systems.
Experience in applying policies and procedures Experience working in Word, Excel and PowerPoint Data entry and good customer service skills
