Job Description

Volt is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Electronics Technician. This role is for a growing manufacturing company in Burbank.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

Troubleshooting:

  • Must be able to troubleshoot extremely complex electrical, combustion, mechanical (power transmission), pneumatic and hydraulic problems to root cause.

Administrative:

  • Can plan and order parts required for all maintenance jobs.

  • Safety requirements; e.g., LOTO, elevated work, confined space, and hot work.

  • Considered to be a resource by, and works extensively with engineering.

Print Reading:

  • Ability to create shop drawings for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and combustion systems.

Electrical:

  • Superior knowledge of SCRs, speed control and dynamic braking.

  • Working knowledge and applications of: operational amplifiers, pulse width modulation, opto-electronics, and current loops.

  • Ability to size a motor starter system for both IEC and NEMA applications; e.g., hold-in circuitry, starter size, overcurrent and overload protections.

  • Ability to correctly retrofit a separately derived system.

  • In-depth knowledge of Ohms Law, NEC, NFPA-79, and NFPA-70E.

Electronic and Controls:

  • Ability to calibrate control equipment, and an understanding of calibrated and non-calibrated standards.

  • In-depth knowledge of PLCs, including how to add, change or delete a circuit.

  • Working knowledge of how to upload and download a program into a PLC.

  • In-depth knowledge of servo feedback systems: open loop, closed loop, and process control.

  • Superior knowledge of shielding and grounding systems, with a working knowledge of ground loops.

  • Working knowledge of local area, Ethernet, and wireless networks
