Bowhead seeks a Machinist - Engineering Technician III to join their team in Dahlgren, VA. The Machinist will be responsible for constructing and building various devices following layouts and diagrams provided by our customers. The Machinist will also conduct

tests and experiments as well as diagnose causes of malfunctions or failures identified during testing. They will also perform preventive and corrective maintenance and ensure the accurate recording of data extracted from field notes, manuals, reports and

tests completed. The Machinist may also be responsible for recommending modification or replacement of failed equipment and must be capable of selecting appropriate plastics and light metals that will be used to fabricate scale model parts with minimal guidance.

Essential proficiencies include:

• Experience using lathes and milling machines (both manual and 3-5 axis CNC machines) in a professional shop environment.

• Experience with MIG, TIG, stick and gas welding in a professional shop environment.

• Prior work experience with sheet metal fabrication will be required.

• Must be capable of creating molds and castings required for part duplication.

• Experience with fabricating cases, cabinets and other items from wood, glass and plastic at a minimum.


• Must have at least five (5) years full-time professional experience as a Machinist - Engineering Technician

• Recommend, order, receive and process materials and tooling for specific jobs

• Must have demonstrable experience reading and interpreting blueprints/schematics

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must currently hold and be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
