- Participates with senior personnel in conducting non-routine projects.
- Provides assistance to senior personnel in planning, monitoring, and conducting special studies, projects, and initiatives.
- Uses computer/computer software such as information management programs, computer aided design and drafting (CADD) programs, and project tracking programs to assist senior personnel in solving engineering problems and facilitate the work.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a developmental opportunity, this position may be filled at the GS-04, GS-05, GS-07, or GS-09 grade level depending on applicant qualifications and organizational requirements. The individual selected for this position may be considered for promotion to a higher grade without further competition upon meeting all legal and regulatory/program requirements.
To qualify for a GS-04: Completion of 2 academic years of post high school study or an associate's degree in a related field of study
To qualify for a GS-05: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school study leading to a bachelor's degree or completion of 4 academic years of pre-professional study.
To qualify for a GS-07: Completion of 1 academic year of graduate level education, bachelors degree with Superior academic Achievement as provided in the "General Policies and Instructions" for Qualifications Standards Operating Manual (See link below), or 5 academic years of pre-professional study.
To qualify for a GS-09: Completion of 2 academic years of graduate level education or master's or equivalent graduate degree.
RECRUITMENT KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):
- Knowledge of the basic theories,concepts, principles, and methodology of electrical engineering.
- Skill in applying basic occupational theory, principles, concepts, and practices sufficient to perform student trainee assignments.
- Ability to follow instructions and guidance to complete assigned tasks and communicate information to others in oral or written format.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify significant factors, gather and interpret pertinent data, and apply established rules and procedures in order to recommend effective solutions.
- Ability to learn and apply basic investigative techniques to accomplish work in the subject-matter field.
- Ability to gather and analyze basic facts, information, and data,and draw conclusions.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
S&E; 0899 Series: Seeking a professional engineering degree. The curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

FOREIGN EDUCATION:Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. This is a Pathways Student Internship opportunity managed by the Force Renewal Program and centrally funded by the Air Force's Central Salary Account (CSA). The Internship offers valuable work experience directly related to your academic field of study. This is your opportunity to begin a successful Federal civilian career with the United States Air Force. As an Intern, you will be given the opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to pursue a successful career with the US Air Force and upon completing your degree and meeting conversion eligibility requirements, be eligible for placement in a permanent position. However, it is important to remember that eligibility for conversion does not guarantee you will be offered a permanent position. The length of Internship is normally two years or when you complete your academic program and degree requirements.
