Air Products has an immediate opening for a Plant Maintenance and Service Technician to provide operating and administrative support at a nitrogen production facility in Windsor, Ontario.
This is a residence based position with a company vehicle and ideally, it’s preferred the selected candidate reside within a 40 mile area of Windsor, ON to minimize travel. This is a daily lone worker situation with additional support from nearby personnel in Nanticoke and Sarnia.
The Windsor, Ontario facility will consist of a long time proven Nitrogen Generating Plant (Package Plant) supplying nitrogen to an on-site customer established in the Windsor community.
The Plant Maintenance and Service Technician will have a wide range of responsibilities supporting both plant operations and the customer. This role will require the candidate to obtain an understanding of all aspects of the site’s responsibilities (plant operation, maintenance and customer communications) with a specific focus on leadership and operating skills at this one person site. The Plant Maintenance and Service Technician will be involved in all aspects of the daily operations of this facility such as PM’s (preventive maintenance), trouble shooting, safety protocol, managing contractors. He / She will also be responsible for assisting other sites and performing customer stations work in the area as work load permits.

Key Responsibilities for this position include:
●Safety performance, BSP compliance and process safety management
●Promote and support customer relations thru effective communications
●Support all aspects of the day to day operation, including:Troubleshooting plant process or mechanical problems, coordinating maintenance activities, driving plant efficiency and plant projects
●Identifying maintenance concerns, developing and implementing corrective/preventive measures
●Working and communicating regularly and effectively with the North America Operating Service Center (OSC), asset manager, regional maintenance manager, tech support team and line manager as necessary

High School Diploma/GED
Strong understanding of Air Separation plants or operating and maintenance experience with complex processes is preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in industry
Strong mechanical aptitude required
Two year Associate Degree in a technical field a plus, but not required.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to plan his/her own activities (including maintenance planning) for safe and reliable operation within budget limitations.
Must be willing to take 24 hour on-call responsibilities
Clean driving record
Strong oral and written communications skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills for interfacing customers to include report development and other required administrative functions.
Demonstrate and practice safe handling of tool including power tools typically and commonly used for installation and maintenance tasks. Experience with welding and brazing is a plus.
Demonstrate ability to read engineering drawings, flow sheets, equipment layout, piping drawings and electrical controls schematics
Exposure to maintaining electronic controls, pneumatic systems, pumps, pressure vessels, reciprocating and centrifugal compressors is preferred
PLC and instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting are a plus
• Must be able to climb ladders and steps and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Will be exposed to a high noise environment
• Elevated work required.
