Charter Communications/Spectrum Senior Manager Network Engineering Core Optical Network Plan in Greenwood Village, Colorado

JOB SCOPE:Responsible for strategic direction and management of the engineering staffand facilities nationally. The Sr. Manager is responsible for providing thedirection of the network through the planning and design functions coveringboth the Regional Transport Network and the metro optical network between theheadends and hubs. This position interfaces with upstream standards andarchitectural teams, the implementations and operations teams in theengineering organization ensuring network capacity, effective plans fordeployment, and coordinating budgeting in association with planned networkdevelopment for future plan of action.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Directly accountable for the engineering, operation, reliability,and performance of Charter's optical transport network. * Evaluates and consults with executive management regarding technicaloperations, strategic planning of capacity, network augments, andreconfiguration * Ensures adherence to company QA policies/controls, operationalplaybooks, and internal and external service agreements. * Directs quality control programs for engineering, operations, andconsistent design feedback to maintain 100% database accuracy. * Leads an innovative, collaborative work team to produce anexceptional network delivering superior reliability and availability. * Manages network deployments and develops plans/strategies for futuretechnology deployments. * Proactively manages all aspects of the area optical transportnetwork; this includes interfacing with the area leaders responsible forheadends, hubs, critical infrastructure, and construction to ensure anoptimal planning and design. * Serves as primary liaison with the Regional and Engineering leadershipteam in the development of network upgrade plans and schedules, operatingarea practices, and ensuring procedures are in compliance with all relevantCharter standards. * Serves as primary contact and consultant to Commercial and ResidentialArea Directors for optical transport network plans. * Participates in local leadership meetings on a regular basis in orderto ensure a smooth engineering/operating environment * Takes ownership of design escalations related to the optical transportnetwork. * Must have superior communications skills in order to operate locallyand regionally and must be expert at working in cross functionalorganizations. * Direct accountability for meeting financial objectives based on thePlan of Record and Quarterly spend plan * Responsibility for staff and project budgets, which account for theservices that generate Charters revenue streams. * Partners with Finance and Accounting in the administration of a capitalbudget for major projects as well as labor capitalization. * Helps to cultivate future leaders within Engineering organization bygiving them accountability and opportunities for growth. * Responsible for employee selection, disciplinary, termination,and compensation decisions. * Lead engineering team members in goal setting and achievement of goals. * Interfaces with engineering organizations to develop both futureengineers and leaders. * Shared values and style consistent with Charter's corporate values:dedication to innovation; high business ethics; diversity; corporateresponsibility; customer-focused and quality service.BASIC/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or relatedfield or equivalent work experience * 5 years Optical and Planning experience * 5 years Management experience * 2 years project managementADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: * Experienced with the following- analyze and interpret data * Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear andstraightforward manner, communicate with all levels of management andcompany personnel, and maintain confidentiality. * Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working underpressure, manage multiple
