Job Title: Senior Field Service Engineer

Reports to (Title): Manager - India Service Operations

Department/Function: Technical Service

Country: India

Location: Hyderabad

Key Purpose and Accountabilities:

Primary activities – Complete field based activities to support Cepheid product portfolio. Ensure customer satisfaction through effective installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of GeneXpert products. Address customer support issues promptly and professionally throughout region. High productivity and initiative to assist with the rapid growth of India install base in a highly professional manner.


  • Successful installation of GeneXpert instruments in a timely & cost effective way

  • Responsible for software & hardware modifications & up gradations

  • Proactive preventive maintenance, reactive repairs and basic calibration on site

  • Responsible to conduct users / operators trainings at customer sites.

  • Educate customers on GeneXpert technology and science behind applications

  • Maximize system performance and minimize downtime

  • Interpret customers’ needs and take responsibility for problem resolution amongst other functions liaising with the customer on administrative and technical matters

  • Demonstration of Cepheid instrumentation, software and reagents to customers

  • Regular communication with Supervisor and Coordinators for scheduling

  • Timely return of spare parts

  • Oversee, mentor and support FSE’s in the region

  • Collaborative working with channel partners FSE team within the region

  • Integrate Cepheid instruments into customer laboratories and provide customer support to the customer during the evaluation and validation process

  • Revenue generation by the means of selling service contracts


Experience, qualifications, skills required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in electronics or engineering (biomedical, electrical or mechanical ) desirable

  • 5 years’ experience in technical services role within diagnostics industries

  • Advanced troubleshooting skills

  • Knowledge of instrumentation and working within research / clinical / laboratory environments

  • Excellent communication skills and technical presentation skills for group and one-on-one presentations


  • Customer facing ability

  • Conflict resolution

Other Requirements:

  • Expectation to travel within the region / India

  • Strong communication skills in English language

  • European / WW travel expected for training opportunities

  • Physically able to independently lift and move heavy instruments
