MDU Resources Group Project Engineer in Hillsboro, Oregon

Job Summary:

GENERAL SUMMARY/PRIMARY FUNCTION Responsible for making our #1 critical success factor, safety first, a priority in all tasks and activities performed by self and all others involved. Promote On Electric Group’s core values, safety culture and continuous process improvement (CPI). The project engineer’s primary function is to support each project with design tracking and coordination of all aspects of construction. With training they may choose to delegate to more appropriate persons on their team, however they ultimately are responsible.


  • Tracking construction contract design changes and updates.

  • Tracking of project construction progress in addition to tracking job costs.

  • Coordinating design changes within construction team.

  • Assist with preparation of change orders and maintenance of project change order log.

  • Assist with development and maintenance of project schedule.

  • Assist with development and maintenance of submittals log and RFI logs.

  • Ability to prepare project submittals and submit written RFIs to client.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:


  • College degree or completion of Electrical Apprenticeship preferred; however, not required

  • Ability to read/interpret/analyze construction schedules

  • Excellent human relations skills and ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Extensive document controls experience

  • Microsoft Office experience, including Excel, Word and Outlook KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Working knowledge of job cost tracking

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential

  • Familiarity with Access a plus
