American Buildings Company a division of Nucor, the nation’s largest steel and steel products manufacturer and largest recycler is seeking to hire Maintenance Technicians in our pre-engineered steel buildings production facility in La Crosse, VA. We are looking for dedicated teammates that will help to promote the company’s mission statement to take care of our customers, make safety their priority and work in a drug-free environment.
Perform a wide variety of duties in the installation, maintenance and repair of plant machinery and equipment, involving electrical, plumbing, mechanical and related trade activities while following prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintaining quality standards.
Analyze problems, tear down machinery and equipment, replace or repair parts and reassemble.
Work from prints, drawings, sketches, written and/or verbal instructions to perform duties.
Install new equipment, run wires, establish distribution boxes, level equipment after assembling and perform required electrical or mechanical setup to meet operation needs.
Perform preventive maintenance operations on equipment, normal electrical maintenance on electronic equipment and other duties as required communicating findings to supervisor.
Use grinders, drill presses, mechanical hand and power tools, electrical gauges and hand tools to perform duties and work with various material handling devices to transport materials to and from work locations.
Project development and fabrication in accordance with process improvements.

Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years machinist experience or equivalent education.
Experience performing basic maintenance repairs on electrical, PLC, and HVAC.
Must demonstrate experience working safely by using PPE properly, performing maintenance troubleshooting and repairs on various types of machinery.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the role with or without accommodation.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).
Technical degree or technical certification.
Extensive machining experience
Experience with the maintenance and repair of conduit, fixtures, and production equipment.
Knowledgeable with 480, 277, 220, and 110 volt circuits and VFD.
Experience with maintaining hydraulics and pneumatics.
Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics and process flow diagrams.
Experience with basic fabrication.
Ability to communicate effectively regarding plant and equipment issues.
Demonstrated computer skill set including experience with MS Word, Excel and AutoCAD.
