WSP has one of the top geotechnical and tunnel engineering groups in the nation. WSP Geotechnical and Tunneling Technical Excellence Center has an immediate opening for a Lead Geotechnical Engineer to provide geotechnical services to its clients on design and construction of major transportation, underground and water resources projects in Michigan.
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Geotechnical Engineer for our Lansing, MI office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Development of and management of subsurface investigation including soil, rock and groundwater, and testing programs
Management of sub-consultants
Performance of geotechnical analyses and design of foundations, embankments/cuts, and earth retaining systems for transit/transportation/water projects
Development of plans and specifications related to geotechnical, underground and foundation engineering
Preparation of geotechnical memorandums and reports
Providing geotechnical & tunneling inspection services during construction
Marketing geotechnical and underground services both internally and externally

BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited School of Engineering
MS or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or Geological Engineering
Minimum of 10-year experience in geotechnical engineering practice, US preferred
Michigan PE registration is required
Proven experience in analysis and design of foundations, retaining walls & embankments
Proven experience in Michigan geotechnical practices and geology
Proven experience in geotechnical project planning, design & preparation of reports
Proven experience in preparation of geotechnical and underground portions of plans and specifications
A demonstrated knowledge in using geotechnical engineering software such as SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, APILE, LPILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, & SETTLE3D
Ability and willingness for some travel and field work
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
