The future of space transportation isnThe Aerospace Engineer is responsible for design, analysis, andverification of aerospace systems. The Aerospace Engineer applies industrystandard techniques in support of aircraft / spacecraft design &modification programs, develops methods & procedures for aircraft /spacecraft external loads generation, & supports aircraft /spacecraftflight teIn this role, you will assist in our Modeling & Simulation efforts. Aspart of the Flight Dynamics team, you'll be responsible for developinghigh fidelity simulation models of the Dream Chaser lifting body spacecraftand the systems it interacts with. Further, you'll be responsible forusing these models to understand the Dream Chaser spacecraft performancethrough sensitivity and design trade studies. Developing subsystem modelswill require working closely with design engineers, developing accurate mathmodels with the appropriate fidelity, and implementing these models in thesimulation. Further, you'll be responsible for verifying and validatingthe model through comparison to lab and flight test data, and documentingthe results. This position requires leadership, ingenuity andresourcefulness, as well as the intellectual curiosity to seek out andpursue new ways of solving problems.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Participate in establishing spacecraft performance metrics for each missionphaseUse engineering judgment and analysis to set objectives for subsystem modelingfidelity and to capture system interactionsLead design trades and sensitivity studiesDefine and conduct Monte Carlo analysesDevelop models of spacecraft and its subsystems from first principlesWork closely with subsystem design engineers to develop models that accuratelyreflect their subsystem while remaining efficientDevelop models in C++ and Matlab/SimulinkDevelop post processing scripts in Python and MatlabVerify and Validate models through unit testing and comparison to lab test andflight dataDocument model and its verification and validationFollow coding best practicesConfiguration management using SubversionOpportunity to participate in wind tunnel tests, hardware-in-the-looptesting and flight testsADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Follow SNC policies, procedures and work instructions for all technicalactivitiesPunctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hoursOther duties as assignedCOMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, andCompliance regulations (internal and external)Responsible for timely execution of all personnel-related activities such asTime Sheet completion, Performance Evaluations, Salary Reviews,Succession Planning, etc.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Minimum physical requirements to perform all duties and responsibilities, asdefined by managementEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:Requires a BS in a Related Field.
