BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TECH
Available Shifts: 2nd SHIFT (3pm-11pm), 3rd SHIFT (11pm-7am).

Candidate must be able to work weekends. Candidate must be flexible to assist with any shift if business need arises.
Our Behavioral Health Techs are a vital part of our organization. They are our eyes and ears on our 5.5 acre campus and must be alert at all times with attention to detail.
Performs bed checks/sweeps. Ensures and encourages patients to get out of bed and attend all the necessary meetings including counseling sessions and educational/didactic groups.
Wakes patients (in a.m.) in an appropriate and timely manner.
Protects patient confidentiality
Ensures safety of all patients
Takes attendance for meetings.
Performs contraband search (bags and body – non-invasive) as requested.
Performs bed checks every 30 minutes until all assigned patients are sleeping and hourly thereafter.
Notifies the nurse on duty whenever a patient is awake during sleeping hours and assists the nurse assessing the reason for being awake.
Assists awake patients through listening for up to 15-30 minutes and facilitates back to bed procedures
Documents all significant events in each respective patient record in a clear, concise and timely manner.
Participates in the staff report between shifts.
Inventories patients’ possessions as necessary with accuracy and detail.
Assists in admitting patients as requested.
Provides orientation to new patients.
Assists with organizing charts.
Provides education to patients.
Monitors patient activities and enforces program rules. Notifies supervisor and/or nursing staff if, after warning, patient continues inappropriate behaviors. Takes actions as directed by supervisor and/or nursing staff.
Responds to patients' (inappropriate) behavior in a therapeutic way/redirects/de-escalates.
Sets and maintains therapeutic boundaries with patients and yet exhibits patient rapport.
Insures building security in accordance with Security Plan (i.e. checking doors, windows and alarms, etc.)
Identifies AMA/elopement crisis and immediately notifies the more senior staff.
Alerts and notifies Lead Tech or Clinical Tech Coordinator immediately for incidents that need to be reported.
Assists in emergency drills and evacuations. Takes patients to the evacuation site, takes attendance, and performs room check.
Assists patient with maintaining activities of daily living.
Provides therapeutic listening and guidance as required.
Supervises patients’ leisure activities, as assigned.
Copies materials as requested by staff.
Maintains professional relationship with all patients at all times.
Transports patients via company car to and from various off-grounds appointments, meetings, and/or off-site housing; includes airport pickup/drop-offs.
Accompanies patients to appointments and activities as assigned.
Documents shift log.
Notifies Clinical Tech Coordinator if problem with transportation vehicles (i.e., tires, gas and mechanical problems).
Attends All-Staff Meetings and required trainings onsite.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education – High School Diploma or GED.
Experience – Experience in working with addiction or healthcare settings preferred.
Certifications - CPR/CPI (offered on site).
Licenses – Valid Florida Driver’s License.
Special Requirements - Knowledge of chemical dependency and dual diagnosis treatment and rehabilitation requirements helpful.
Age/Gender Specifics - Ability to work with male and female, adult (18-over) substance abuse/dual diagnosed population.
Physical/Emotional Demands/Working Conditions:
Work is sedentary or ambulant. Must read, write, and speak English fluently. Physical exertion (lifting 30 or more pounds, walking, standing, etc.) to support patient weight in case of emergency situation or patient disability requiring assistance in walking, standing, etc. Must be able to see, stoop, sit, stand, bend and reach. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, emotionally upset, elderly, and/or hostile people regularly. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with the medical, nursing, clinical and other staff. Must be emotionally stable and exhibit ability to display coping skills. Risk of exposure to infections and contagious/blood borne diseases. Exposed to varying and unpredictable situations (i.e., patient behavior). Subject to work schedule and shift change.
