WSP is currently initiating a search for a Field Engineer for our New York City office.

The Field Engineer (FE) is responsible to conduct field inspections of equipment and systems in buildings, document the findings, and report them to their direct supervisor. Other activities range from utilizing test equipment to verify proper system operation, to performing maintenance on equipment, to providing direction and technical oversight on several diverse projects. The FE will be an asset to support a Project Team which includes: Ownership, Engineer, Construction Managers, Contractors, & their own Commissioning Team Members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning Tasks

-Conduct site visits and produce reports

-Utilize test equipment

-Read and understand project drawings

-Provide updates to supervisor and project team

-Organize & manage schedules

-Perform energy calculations

  • Maintenance Tasks

-Perform routine maintenance and rounds of equipment, which includes:

-Cogeneration Equipment

-Pumps

-Cooling Towers

-Chillers

-Air Handlers

-Filter replacement, bearing replacement, valve lash adjustment, oil changes, etc.

  • Design Tasks

-Assist with site surveys

-Assist with creating one line drawings utilizing AutoCAD

  • Project Coordination

-Review project schedules with project team members

-Review and oversee project design and construction

-Provide feedback to all team members

-Manage time effectively

  • Participate in client and / or educational presentations as required.

  • Any special projects as required

Job Requirements

Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

  • Innovative

  • Must be organized

  • Must have a strong work ethic and an innate ability to learn

  • Strong communication skills (written & verbal)

  • Willingness to accept responsibility and solicit involvement from team members

  • Must be physically fit, capable of lifting at least 30 pounds, and the ability to climb ladders
