Job Description

Floating LNG is a technology first and an important development for Shell and the LNG industry, reducing project costs and environmental footprint. It precludes the need for long distance pipelines and extensive onshore infrastructure, providing the potential to unlock stranded offshore gas reserves. The Prelude FLNG project is the first of its kind in the Oil & Gas industry combining sub-sea wells tieback to a Floating Liquefied Natural Gas facility which encompasses gas processing and liquefaction through to LNG / LPG / Condensate storage and offloading supported with fully integrated steam utilities power generation.

The Marine Support Engineer is a key player in front line support to Prelude FLNG conducting daily surveillance and troubleshooting activities to the offshore execution teams as well as providing onshore discipline engineering support and escalation paths into both the Asset and Project engineering organisation.

Additionally, they will be integral in the CMMS optimisation process assisting Shell Australia Maintenance team transition towards best in class operational excellence.

The key to the FLNG Asset production success is reliability & availability. As such, high uptimes are expected from all equipment to meet these requirements whilst delivering asset integrity at the lowest possible cost consistent to HSE goal zero commitment

The key deliverables and accountabilities of this role are:

The marine engineer will have primary care and ownership across a number of systems and equipment types. Broadly the areas of responsibility will cover marine loading systems, offshore structures, marine hull, SOLAS equipment, bilge and ballast systems including sewage and galley equipment, turret mooring systems and firefighting equipment. Specific activities required by the Marine Support Engineer are:

  • Help ensure the implementation and ongoing care of Maintenance Integrity Execution (MIE) – in the CMMS Build including SCE identification, Performance Standards setting, Assurance Activity implementation.

  • Ensure that maintenance master data is supported and maintained in the CMMS including hierarchy data,Task lists, Operations requirements, standard text, PRT's, Work centres etc.

  • Act as focal point for Marine Engineering during optimisation activities in the CMMS

  • Support the offshore maintenance execution team’s day to with focus on asset integrity and production availability.

  • Carry out monitoring and surveillance of the facility equipment in the Marine Support Engineers care to;

  • identify maintenance intervention needs.

  • develop the required scope and organise these resources.

  • support the execution of the work

  • Carry out root cause failure analysis to prevent re-occurrence of equipment failures.

  • Execute assurance programmes to ensure the delivery of Asset Integrity

The candidate we are therefore seeking for this position, will have/be;

  • Strong demonstrable technical experience, preferably from within a marine engineering environment.

  • Knowledge of marine systems common to ship types.

  • Knowledge of Class requirements for marine equipment on the class register.

  • Knowledge SOLAS and MARPOL requirements for maintaining marine equipment.

  • Experience of LNG, Utility, Steam, Marine, Offshore systems is beneficial.

  • Experienced in contract development, mobilisation and management.

  • Prior experience and knowledge of the development and/or optimisation of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (SAP-PM).

  • Good understanding of maintenance of operating facilities including the shutdown process, scope development, etc is advantageous.

Crucial to the success of this role is the ability to work effectively in/and across multi-functional teams and interface with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, based in various locations, whilst maintaining a high work level of work ethic, being able to work autonomously and being passionate about diving our company’s performance
