Job Summary Supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots hardware and software problems pertaining to computer workstations on the Local Area Network (LAN). Recommends and schedules repairs. Provides end user support for all LAN-based applications. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Install, modifies, and makes minor repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems, and provides technical assistance and training to system users by performing duties. May lead or direct the work of others. Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction. Replaces defective or inadequate software. Coordinates activities with Technical Support Help Desk, Systems Support, Infrastructure Support, or other Information Technology groups. Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems. Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and-or users, via voice mail, e-mail, documentation or in person communications. Instructs users in use of equipment, software, and manuals. Responds to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems. Builds and deploys current software using an imaging utility. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associates degree in related field. 4 years full-time related experience. Trade off of work experience and education on a 1 year to 1 year basis. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Must be very customer service oriented with good verbal and written communication skills; must have good work ethics; must have good documentation skills; ability to work closely with a user community consisting of administrators and faculty; must be a team-oriented person with the ability to work closely with team members; a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected; must be able to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; must be able to perform a variety of complicated tasks; have experience supporting personal computers; have experience with Windows Operating System platforms to the current version; have experience installing and configuring the standard Microsoft Office Suite including Exchange-Outlook to the current version. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
