Position Summary: Fuels and performs service on equipment. Performs maintenance or minor mechanic repair to keep equipment in repair. Duties include welding; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment. Under limited supervision, performs difficult routine work related to maintenance and performs related work as assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs equipment and material deliveries to job sites. Performs routine preventive maintenance on equipment, and repairs or replaces defective items as necessary, using hand tools and power tools. Assembles, installs, or repairs wiring, electrical, and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment. Diagnoses minor mechanical problems, and determines the proper repair method, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary. Inspects, operates, and tests machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunction. Reads work orders, instructions, formulas, or processing charts. Records type and cost of maintenance or repair work. Fuels equipment on job sites. Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides written documentation of repair work completed. Maintains maintenance logs. Orders parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtains them from storerooms. Installs or replaces glass in equipment. EDUCATION-EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is desirable, but not required. 0-2 years experience in mechanical repairs. CERTIFICATION-LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Forklift certification is preferred but not required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS Ability to work varied shifts or extended hours, as required. Ability to travel out of town for sometimes long periods of time. Ability to make decisions and problem solve. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to operate hand tools and basic power tools. Knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and practices used in construction and maintenance. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Understanding of technical operation, service, or repair manuals.
