General Dynamics Mission Systems Hardware Quality Engineer in Scottsdale, Arizona
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or a related specialized technical area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.
Responsibilities for this Position
GDMS has an immediate opening for a Hardware Quality Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
The Hardware Quality Engineer will perform the following representative duties and tasks:
Designs, implements, and maintains quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products
Designs methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of production processes, production equipment and finished products
Performs analysis of reports and production data to identify trends, recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures, and participates in continuous improvement and problem solving activities within the project
Provides technical review of documents, drawings, assembly instructions, and project plans
Compares defects against standards and recommends dispositions, verifies implementation of rework
Performs audits, assigns corrective action, and verifies implementation
Reviews documents/Drawings/Instructions for conformance to requirements and witnesses and/or monitors test activities
Contact with project leaders and other professionals within Engineering and Operations departments, with project teams across the company, and external suppliers and customers on multiple programs
Up to 25% travel may be required
The Hardware Quality Engineer must possess the following knowledge, skillls, and abilities:
Proficient knowledge of domain (hardware, software, systems, logistics, manufacturing) methodologies, tools, and standards
Proficient knowledge of AS9100 industry
Proficient written and verbal communications skills
Ability to think creatively, multi-task, and sell concepts/ideas
Contributes to the achievement of business objectives
Proficient skill in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
Proficient ability to clearly report relevant to sound quality engineering processes
Proficient knowledge of interpretation of drawings
Proficient skill in reviewing documents/drawings/instructions for conformance to requirements techniques
Proficient skill in reporting quality activities, findings, and issues both in writing and verbally
Proficient knowledge of use of relevant inspection/measurement tools and techniques
A Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within 24 months of hire. The selected candidate must be able to obtain Department of Defense security clearance if required. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within 24 months of hire.
