180507 Staff Applications Engineer (Open) The Application Engineer (AE) is responsible for providing technical support for the development, qualification and life of Seagate solid state drives in customer applications and solutions. The AE is the key technical interface for Seagate's customers as well as our TCM, Marketing, Sales, Design and Technical Field Support organizations into the Design Center and associated laboratories. The AE will work on complex issues, first by summarizing the issue into a detailed problem statement and then providing in-depth analysis of the related data. Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results and support / author 8D's as needed. This role is located in Shakopee, Key responsibilities include: Manages product requirement discussions with customers. Technical focal point during the qualification process and also provides on-going technical support for products in the field. Works closely with customers and TCM (If assigned) to assist with drive qualifications and issue resolution. Run tests in customer environment to validate drive to system compatibility. Assists TCM and Field Technical staff in matching Seagate products to customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications for future products. Work between our customers, internal design engineers and internal core teams, driving customer requirements into the Design Center. Coordinates activities within Design Center to achieve timely customer deliverables. Work in close coordination with Firmware Design and Test teams to achieve customer goals with new requirements and issue resolution. Work on problems of very diverse scope to solve complex customer issues during and after the qualifications. Provide the Core Team the perspective of the customer. Hands-on characterization, qualification and troubleshooting of customer systems. Creates and maintains any specific customer build configurations within Seagate systems and authorizes/create ECR's.
